As a Lady Vol, “Trish” became a double threat. She set the single-season scoring record and the single-season rebounding record. This dominance earned her recognition as a 1976-77 Kodak All-American, the first woman in any sport at Tennessee to receive this prestigious honor.
But her impact extended far beyond individual accolades. She was also a member of the 1976 USA Olympic team, bringing home a silver medal. This experience playing alongside the legendary Coach Pat Summitt undoubtedly shaped her own coaching philosophy.
Following college, “Trish” became a force in the professional ranks. She played for the WBL's inaugural season, showcasing her talent and earning an All-Pro title. This cemented her legacy as a pioneer of the game.
Her passion for the sport led her to coaching. She broke barriers by becoming the first Black woman's basketball coach at the University of Maine. Building on this success, she went on to coach at the helm of the University of Michigan's women's program.
Coach Roberts influence transcends college basketball. She also served as Head Coach for the Atlanta Glory in the professional league, demonstrating her commitment to the growth of the women's game at all levels.
