About Our Podcast

From Valet Stand to Podcast Booth:
The On and Off da Field Story
This podcast is more than just sports talk. It's about the battles we face on and off
the field. It's about finding your purpose, your faith, and the strength to keep going.
It all started on the valet drive of the Riverview Plaza Hotel in Mobile, AL, 14 years ago.
Here's me, Lance Boston, driving cars for a local limo company, and there's Coach Rick Hesley, keeping the building next door running smoothly.
Through casual chit-chat, I discovered Coach Rick was also a Pastor. Turns out, his sermons
were so powerful, I joined his church – you might even hear a snippet about that in
Episode 3's "Yoda Moment."
Life took a brutal turn in 2016 when I lost my daughter, Mary. Coach Rick, true to his calling,
delivered her eulogy. It was a rough time, but our conversations – sometimes funny, sometimes deeply inspiring – became a lifeline for me.
One day, it hit us: "People NEED to hear this!" These talks were adding value to our lives, why
not share them with the world? A month later, "On and Off da Field" was born, kicking things off
with Episode 1: Memphis, The Marcus Thomas Story.
This podcast is a journey through our lives, our families, a gumbo pot of sports, faith, laughter,
and the lessons learned along the way. We talk mistakes, temptations, travel, relationships,
nutrition & exercise, sports and we even interview some fascinating guests for good measure.
Rest assured, On and Off da Field is more than just a podcast – It’s a podcast with a purpose.
Satisfy God and add value to someone’s day.
So, come laugh, learn and be inspired!

Son of NFL legend McKinley Boston, football has always been a
part of my life.
I was a three-sport star in high school in New Jersey, and football took me to the
