00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Episode 91 peanut needs a kidney. Yes a conversation
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 with Elvin Jamal Williams. Okay, so Fill us in
00:00:09 --> 00:00:12 one was up cuz this is gonna be interesting This
00:00:12 --> 00:00:15 is gonna be an interesting episode. So he's from
00:00:15 --> 00:00:18 my hometown East Orange, New Jersey. Okay, but
00:00:18 --> 00:00:23 we didn't meet until I Went up to the University
00:00:23 --> 00:00:25 of Maine. He was up there at the University of
00:00:25 --> 00:00:29 Maine prior to prior to my year. That's That's
00:00:29 --> 00:00:32 okay. And you know to this point now it needs
00:00:32 --> 00:00:35 a kidney transplant. How long has it you know
00:00:35 --> 00:00:38 how long it's been? I don't know the specifics.
00:00:38 --> 00:00:42 I guess we'll find all that out. Sure. So are
00:00:42 --> 00:00:46 you an organ donor? No I'm not. I don't think
00:00:46 --> 00:00:49 I am either. Most people don't know if they signed
00:00:49 --> 00:00:53 up for it or not. Right. They forget. Well, it's
00:00:53 --> 00:00:55 kind of like one of the things that a lot of
00:00:55 --> 00:00:57 people say I'll do it next time. Yeah, and then
00:00:57 --> 00:01:00 maybe you do or don't. Do or don't. I'm not.
00:01:00 --> 00:01:02 I don't think I am. I didn't sign up. That's
00:01:02 --> 00:01:05 on your license, right? It should be. You're
00:01:05 --> 00:01:07 going to make me look at my license. Because
00:01:07 --> 00:01:09 I just don't. It's not something you really...
00:01:09 --> 00:01:12 We all need to check that. That's crazy. We don't
00:01:12 --> 00:01:15 need them after we're gone. God, man. Yeah, might
00:01:15 --> 00:01:21 as well. I never thought about that. So the Tom
00:01:21 --> 00:01:24 Brady example. So Tom Brady, the way the show
00:01:24 --> 00:01:26 came about, Tom Brady did something similar.
00:01:27 --> 00:01:30 His long time coach needed a kidney transplant,
00:01:30 --> 00:01:35 so they did some promoting for him. Eventually
00:01:35 --> 00:01:39 they got two kidneys through enough donors to
00:01:39 --> 00:01:42 save two other people. His didn't come in time,
00:01:43 --> 00:01:47 but throughout the awareness. some good things
00:01:47 --> 00:01:52 did happen. So we're trying to get this, Jamala's
00:01:52 --> 00:01:54 not at that stage where that guy was, but we're
00:01:54 --> 00:01:57 trying to get it in advance so he doesn't have
00:01:57 --> 00:02:02 to even get to that point. Man, real quick, you
00:02:02 --> 00:02:05 don't really focus on that until that problem
00:02:05 --> 00:02:10 comes up. Health as well. Yeah. My dad, kidneys
00:02:10 --> 00:02:13 was something that went bad, but it was because
00:02:13 --> 00:02:16 of You know what I'm saying? But it was his kidneys
00:02:16 --> 00:02:20 that he was having dialysis for. You know, as
00:02:20 --> 00:02:23 a result of... So Jamal's not on dialysis as
00:02:23 --> 00:02:25 of yet. Gotcha. But yeah, just that kidney thing.
00:02:25 --> 00:02:27 Every time I see that, it makes me think about
00:02:27 --> 00:02:30 my pop. Because that's what they kept bringing
00:02:30 --> 00:02:44 up for him. It's his kidneys. So yeah. It's a
00:02:44 --> 00:02:46 good one, man. It's gonna be good. Welcome to
00:02:46 --> 00:02:49 On and Off the Field, a podcast with a purpose.
00:02:49 --> 00:02:51 We got the on the field coach. This is your boy
00:02:51 --> 00:02:55 Coach Boston, aka Steeler Nation since 1976.
00:02:55 --> 00:02:59 And you got the infamous young man since 1968.
00:03:02 --> 00:03:06 So, this is gonna be good, man. Of course. Which
00:03:06 --> 00:03:10 show isn't good? I want to take the time out.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:14 We're gonna pray, right? Yeah. But I wanna pray
00:03:14 --> 00:03:17 for them other podcasts that's looking at the
00:03:17 --> 00:03:19 back of our necks and our shoulders, cause we
00:03:19 --> 00:03:22 so far ahead of y 'all, cause y 'all sleeping
00:03:22 --> 00:03:24 and y 'all, you feel what I'm saying? Y 'all
00:03:24 --> 00:03:27 soft when it come to this podcast thing. For
00:03:27 --> 00:03:29 real, y 'all needed on and off the field to come
00:03:29 --> 00:03:31 show y 'all how it's done. And so we here, shout
00:03:31 --> 00:03:35 out to S. So we're gonna play for you bums that
00:03:35 --> 00:03:37 don't know how to keep up a podcast and get good
00:03:37 --> 00:03:39 content. It's not even organic. It don't even
00:03:39 --> 00:03:41 be funny, man. Y 'all need to come take a couple
00:03:41 --> 00:03:44 lessons from us. Heaven said to us, let us pray.
00:03:44 --> 00:03:47 Let us pray. Coach, you own one this week. Yes,
00:03:47 --> 00:03:50 I am. I had to pray for these losers. Heavenly
00:03:50 --> 00:03:53 Father, we ask for your healing touch and strength.
00:03:53 --> 00:03:56 Guide and prepare the right kidney donor and
00:03:56 --> 00:03:59 grant wisdom to the medical team directing every
00:03:59 --> 00:04:02 step. Bring a clear, successful match. safe procedures,
00:04:02 --> 00:04:05 and restored health according to your perfect
00:04:05 --> 00:04:08 timing. Amen. See them come out? Who else praying
00:04:08 --> 00:04:11 for y 'all like this? Who else lifted y 'all
00:04:11 --> 00:04:13 up before going on and off the field? Nobody.
00:04:13 --> 00:04:15 Find any other podcast that's praying for y 'all.
00:04:15 --> 00:04:19 We praying for the whole world, Craig. That's
00:04:19 --> 00:04:21 all I'm saying. How you get fired on your day
00:04:21 --> 00:04:22 off, man? How you get fired on your day off?
00:04:24 --> 00:04:27 Let's laugh. Let's laugh. Alright, what happened
00:04:27 --> 00:04:30 to the kidney specialist? Man, come on, bro.
00:04:30 --> 00:04:32 You gotta get me ready for this, dawg. Hold on,
00:04:33 --> 00:04:37 man. What happened to the kidney specialist who
00:04:37 --> 00:04:41 smoked weed? What? He got kidney stoned. Okay,
00:04:41 --> 00:04:46 bro. Alright. Come on. Why don't kidneys panic?
00:04:46 --> 00:04:49 Why? They just process things slowly. Why? That's
00:04:49 --> 00:04:52 good. What's a kidney's motto? What? Feel to
00:04:52 --> 00:04:54 first, react later. That's good. That's good.
00:04:55 --> 00:04:58 Why did the kidney laugh? Why? It finally passed
00:04:58 --> 00:05:01 the joke. Oh my goodness. Why are kidneys calm?
00:05:02 --> 00:05:04 Why? They keep everything back and they do. And
00:05:04 --> 00:05:06 they do. Wow. You know, you donate a kidney and
00:05:06 --> 00:05:10 they call you a hero. I tried to donate six kidneys
00:05:10 --> 00:05:12 and people started calling me Dexter and asking
00:05:12 --> 00:05:14 me all types of questions. I don't get that one.
00:05:14 --> 00:05:17 You never seen Dexter? No. Serial killer series
00:05:17 --> 00:05:19 on Showtime. Oh my goodness. That makes sense
00:05:19 --> 00:05:21 now. We don't want none of Dexter's kidneys.
00:05:22 --> 00:05:26 Mm -mm. They ain't ducks as kidneys as well.
00:05:26 --> 00:05:29 Marriage is really educational. When I was single,
00:05:29 --> 00:05:32 I didn't even know there was a wrong way to put
00:05:32 --> 00:05:38 a fork in the dishwasher. Wow. Go ahead. They
00:05:38 --> 00:05:40 ain't not gonna escape. They ain't not gonna
00:05:40 --> 00:05:42 escape. Every week. Yeah. Until the season's
00:05:42 --> 00:05:44 over. Until the week 17. Oh my goodness. We on
00:05:44 --> 00:05:46 y 'all next. Why did the Dallas Cowboys bring
00:05:46 --> 00:05:48 string to the game? Right. To tie the score?
00:05:48 --> 00:05:52 That's the only way. Church the nonsense dog.
00:05:52 --> 00:05:54 This is lit, brother. You know what? Reverend
00:05:54 --> 00:05:56 Leadbelter need to be investigated. Reverend
00:05:56 --> 00:05:59 Leadbelter would like to remind all members who
00:05:59 --> 00:06:02 are dealing with severe illness that they still
00:06:02 --> 00:06:04 responsible for their monthly tasks and weekly
00:06:04 --> 00:06:08 office. That's why they need to investigate Leadbelter
00:06:08 --> 00:06:11 because he ain't worth nothing. Come on. All
00:06:11 --> 00:06:13 right, Bible mysteries. Let's go. So this is
00:06:13 --> 00:06:19 Psalms 139 verse 13. It says, for you formed
00:06:19 --> 00:06:22 my inward parts, which I heard was another name
00:06:22 --> 00:06:25 for kidneys. Right. That's all of your inward
00:06:25 --> 00:06:27 parts. All your inward parts. You knitted me
00:06:27 --> 00:06:31 together in my mother's womb, thus highlighting
00:06:31 --> 00:06:35 God's purposeful design for every organ. Absolutely.
00:06:35 --> 00:06:38 It's purposeful. Like he said, even the inward
00:06:38 --> 00:06:42 parts. The organs. Nah, that's a double entendre.
00:06:42 --> 00:06:44 You got the organs, inward parts, and even the
00:06:44 --> 00:06:47 inner man. the inward part, so he's talking spiritually
00:06:47 --> 00:06:50 as well as physically. Literally though, like
00:06:50 --> 00:06:52 David is saying this, he's literally saying,
00:06:52 --> 00:06:56 you did it, you found everything. Right, so you
00:06:56 --> 00:06:59 know, if you pray to somebody about something,
00:06:59 --> 00:07:02 your organs, you should pray to the one that
00:07:02 --> 00:07:04 made the organs. Right, wouldn't that make sense?
00:07:05 --> 00:07:09 Look at your neighbor. Black Americans make up
00:07:09 --> 00:07:13 roughly 13 % to 14 % of the U .S. population.
00:07:14 --> 00:07:17 they account for over 30 % of all Americans living
00:07:17 --> 00:07:23 with kidney failure? Oh, man. Gotta be the lifestyle.
00:07:23 --> 00:07:27 Do you think so? Yeah, I would think. Sodas.
00:07:27 --> 00:07:29 I mean, you gotta look at everything in common.
00:07:29 --> 00:07:33 So what is it that we all do cross? Across all
00:07:33 --> 00:07:37 spectrums. Yeah, it's gotta be our diet. Yep.
00:07:37 --> 00:07:40 So I heard a man say something the other day
00:07:40 --> 00:07:44 that really triggered my fitness man in me. He
00:07:44 --> 00:07:49 said, if you wanna stay lean, eat dry. He said,
00:07:49 --> 00:07:52 if you wanna gain weight, eat moist food. Food
00:07:52 --> 00:07:56 with oil, with grease. But the way he put it,
00:07:56 --> 00:07:59 I was like, dry. If you wanna stay lean, eat
00:07:59 --> 00:08:02 dry. Right. It makes sense. You'll be lean. It
00:08:02 --> 00:08:03 makes sense. You'll be a natural fat -burning
00:08:03 --> 00:08:07 machine. The body was designed for not what we
00:08:07 --> 00:08:11 eat on a daily basis. No. No. It was designed
00:08:11 --> 00:08:16 to eat green, fruits, vegetables, you know, lean
00:08:16 --> 00:08:19 meats. Which is all lean. Yeah. Fat -burning.
00:08:19 --> 00:08:24 Right. Natural. Nuts. God. Amen. But you know,
00:08:24 --> 00:08:28 we eating chips, honey buns. Chips. Dip. Dips.
00:08:29 --> 00:08:38 Chicken, chicken, beef, surprise meats. And it's
00:08:38 --> 00:08:40 our kidneys that have to deal with it. Yeah,
00:08:40 --> 00:08:44 they process it all. All right, Mary's Nerd Nuggets
00:08:44 --> 00:08:48 Fun Facts. Okay, during a kidney transplant,
00:08:49 --> 00:08:52 surgeons almost never remove the original failing
00:08:52 --> 00:08:54 kidneys. They leave them right there where they
00:08:54 --> 00:08:58 are and place the donor kidney in the lower abdomen,
00:08:58 --> 00:09:01 the pelvis area. What? Connecting it to nearby
00:09:01 --> 00:09:05 blood vessels and the bladder. Most transplant
00:09:05 --> 00:09:08 recipients actually have three kidneys. What
00:09:08 --> 00:09:13 you say? Oh, man, bro. I didn't know that. They
00:09:13 --> 00:09:15 ain't lyin'. They didn't transplant nothing.
00:09:19 --> 00:09:26 Transplants is the two... It's good Wait, it's
00:09:26 --> 00:09:29 cutting the two words chance me which means to
00:09:29 --> 00:09:31 transfer and one didn't play you transplanted
00:09:31 --> 00:09:35 one kidney out and doing another They lying you
00:09:35 --> 00:09:38 for the transfer one and plant the other That's
00:09:38 --> 00:09:43 what transplant me our coach Co -op. Oh, no.
00:09:43 --> 00:09:45 I'm just telling you what it says. Oh, no. We
00:09:45 --> 00:09:48 got to check the medical people, man. You got
00:09:48 --> 00:09:50 to call it out. Come on, bro. All right. Did
00:09:50 --> 00:09:52 you know? No. East Orange, New Jersey, which
00:09:52 --> 00:09:56 is where Jamal is from, is the home of Whitney
00:09:56 --> 00:09:59 Houston and Good Times legend John Amos. I did
00:09:59 --> 00:10:02 know Whitney was from there. I didn't know James
00:10:02 --> 00:10:05 was from there. James was from there. Damn, damn,
00:10:05 --> 00:10:13 damn. Junior! Get over here. Get my back belt.
00:10:13 --> 00:10:20 Come on. Things that make you go hmm. Sade actually
00:10:20 --> 00:10:25 is a London formed band, not a solo artist. What?
00:10:25 --> 00:10:31 Her name is not, her name is Fola Sade, which
00:10:31 --> 00:10:35 is her middle name. So they took part of her
00:10:35 --> 00:10:38 middle name and made the actual group. So it's
00:10:38 --> 00:10:40 the group. It's the group, not her name. She's
00:10:40 --> 00:10:44 not Sade. Her name is Helen Fola Sade Ado. Wow.
00:10:45 --> 00:10:47 Yeah. So it really should have been Helen. We
00:10:47 --> 00:10:51 need to call her Helen. That's Helen. Helen can
00:10:51 --> 00:10:57 sing. Yeah. What's one of her songs? Oh my gosh,
00:10:57 --> 00:11:00 she got hits, man. What's one of her songs? I
00:11:00 --> 00:11:01 bet you can't think of one. You brain farting
00:11:01 --> 00:11:04 right now. Brain fart? Yeah. No, what's the name
00:11:04 --> 00:11:10 of the song? Sade song. Taboob? Sing it. Sing
00:11:10 --> 00:11:14 it. I can't sing it. If I could think of one,
00:11:14 --> 00:11:17 I would sing it. Sing it. I don't know it. How
00:11:17 --> 00:11:20 it goes. Taboob. Pull one up. Oh man. Sade, would
00:11:20 --> 00:11:22 you sue us if we pulled one of your jams up?
00:11:23 --> 00:11:25 Hold on. Let me pull up a Sade song. Wait a minute.
00:11:25 --> 00:11:27 This is organic. Y 'all think we'd be playing
00:11:27 --> 00:11:29 around here. I told you, where's your goodness
00:11:29 --> 00:11:38 at? Sade Taboob. Is it a crime? Is it a crime?
00:11:38 --> 00:11:42 That is, you know what, that is true. Hold on,
00:11:42 --> 00:11:45 since we got it up here, though. Is it a crime?
00:11:52 --> 00:11:57 Oh, wow. Don't sue us, Sade. We're doing this
00:11:57 --> 00:12:07 on point. That's hard. That's Sade. All right,
00:12:07 --> 00:12:13 okay. You're keeping up the best in me. African
00:12:13 --> 00:12:19 proverb. African proverb. All right, the patient's
00:12:19 --> 00:12:22 heart can cook a stone. Meaning, with enough
00:12:22 --> 00:12:26 patience and hope, even the most impossible or
00:12:26 --> 00:12:29 hard -hearted situation can eventually yield
00:12:29 --> 00:12:31 a life -changing result. That's fire. The patient's
00:12:31 --> 00:12:34 heart can cook a stone. You know, the heart is
00:12:34 --> 00:12:39 the most, it doesn't burn. If you set a corpse
00:12:39 --> 00:12:41 or body on fire, the heart is the last thing
00:12:41 --> 00:12:44 to burn, if it burns. Is that right? Yeah. Because
00:12:44 --> 00:12:47 of the rib cage? No, it's the muscle, the tissue
00:12:47 --> 00:12:51 that is made of. It rarely burns. Oh. Yeah. Literally.
00:12:51 --> 00:12:54 Like that piece of charcoal. It stays. That unlike.
00:12:54 --> 00:12:57 It's the heart. That's how strong the muscle
00:12:57 --> 00:13:00 is. Yeah. Chinese proverb. All right. All right.
00:13:00 --> 00:13:04 A long illness turns the patient into a good
00:13:04 --> 00:13:07 doctor, meaning enduring a chronic condition
00:13:07 --> 00:13:10 forces the person to gain deep wisdom, resilience,
00:13:10 --> 00:13:13 and mastery over their own care while aiding
00:13:13 --> 00:13:17 for a cure. That's a different one. Yeah. Luke.
00:13:19 --> 00:13:21 We would never told you what happened to your
00:13:21 --> 00:13:42 father So we talk about organ donation whether
00:13:42 --> 00:13:45 from a living or deceased donor It's actually
00:13:45 --> 00:13:48 one of the most direct and practical expressions
00:13:48 --> 00:13:54 of selflessness And John 15 verse 13 says, greater
00:13:54 --> 00:13:59 love has no one than this to lay down one's life
00:13:59 --> 00:14:02 for one's friends. Right. Jesus said that. It's
00:14:02 --> 00:14:06 written in red. That's a perfect script for what
00:14:06 --> 00:14:12 we're doing because in order for him to get what
00:14:12 --> 00:14:14 he needs, somebody is going to lay down their
00:14:14 --> 00:14:17 life or will have. Right. Lay down their life.
00:14:17 --> 00:14:21 Part of their life. Right. So that's a perfect
00:14:21 --> 00:14:23 scripture. Of course, Jesus, what he said is
00:14:23 --> 00:14:25 he was talking about himself ultimately laying
00:14:25 --> 00:14:28 down his life for the world. Right, okay, so
00:14:28 --> 00:14:30 he's talking about dying for our sins. Right,
00:14:30 --> 00:14:32 for our sins. Greater love had no man than this.
00:14:33 --> 00:14:34 Then he laid down his life for free. Now he talked
00:14:34 --> 00:14:38 about that. globally, which was him. Now locally,
00:14:38 --> 00:14:41 we supposed to do that for one another. You don't
00:14:41 --> 00:14:43 have to die to lay down your life for a brother.
00:14:43 --> 00:14:47 You kind of set aside some of the time of your
00:14:47 --> 00:14:49 life to help them. So that's you laying down
00:14:49 --> 00:14:51 your life. We could just be kind. You could be
00:14:51 --> 00:14:54 kind, yeah. But he meant though intentionally
00:14:54 --> 00:14:58 to spend time or actually devote. part of your
00:14:58 --> 00:15:00 life to helping that person. Laying down your
00:15:00 --> 00:15:02 life. You know what I mean? Giving of yourself.
00:15:03 --> 00:15:06 Right. That's one of the hardest things that
00:15:06 --> 00:15:08 people struggle with now. Everybody wants their
00:15:08 --> 00:15:12 own agenda. And that's scary because everybody
00:15:12 --> 00:15:14 want, well I want to do it this way, I want to
00:15:14 --> 00:15:16 do it this way. Well we living in a time now
00:15:16 --> 00:15:19 where it's best to do it the best way. You know
00:15:19 --> 00:15:21 what I'm saying? Not that we robots, but I'm
00:15:21 --> 00:15:23 just saying. You know, everybody got their own.
00:15:24 --> 00:15:29 What about my way, what about my way? I don't
00:15:29 --> 00:15:32 know, Yoda. All right, let's give Jamal the call.
00:15:39 --> 00:15:48 Alley -toot. Hello? Yes, we were looking for
00:15:48 --> 00:15:51 Mr. Jamal Williams, Alvin Jamal Williams. What's
00:15:51 --> 00:15:54 up, nut? Yo, what's going on? What's going on,
00:15:54 --> 00:15:57 Joe? How you doing, boss, man? Welcome on and
00:15:57 --> 00:16:03 off the field, man. Oh, bro, I'm well, man. I'm
00:16:03 --> 00:16:05 blessed. I'm good. That's good. Nothing to complain
00:16:05 --> 00:16:07 about. That's good. That's good, man. It's so
00:16:07 --> 00:16:09 good to meet you, man. Thank you for coming on.
00:16:10 --> 00:16:12 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Good to meet you. I hope
00:16:12 --> 00:16:14 to one day meet you in person. East Orange finest.
00:16:14 --> 00:16:16 Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Looking forward to that.
00:16:17 --> 00:16:20 My wife is from New Jersey. OK, what part? Bridgestone.
00:16:22 --> 00:16:30 Yes, like Sickleville, South Jersey. No bodegas
00:16:30 --> 00:16:33 down there, no corner stores. He said no bodegas,
00:16:33 --> 00:16:35 he said no bodegas and corner stores. Really?
00:16:36 --> 00:16:39 So where the bodegas at? So why the no bodegas
00:16:39 --> 00:16:46 there? It's a suburb, it's suburb, rural America.
00:16:46 --> 00:16:49 So I thought Bodega was basically like a corner
00:16:49 --> 00:16:52 store with like a mom apartment in the city.
00:16:52 --> 00:16:54 Yeah, in the city. So you mean to tell me they
00:16:54 --> 00:16:59 won't put them in South Jersey? Well, some parts
00:16:59 --> 00:17:02 of South Jersey. Okay. That's the city. I got
00:17:02 --> 00:17:05 you. Okay. I just had to get it straight. That's
00:17:05 --> 00:17:07 all. All right. We got a few questions for you.
00:17:08 --> 00:17:10 No problem. All right. Who's your favorite NFL
00:17:10 --> 00:17:17 team and why? Whoo, I don't have NFL team You
00:17:17 --> 00:17:20 know growing up used to be a cowboy fan Yeah,
00:17:21 --> 00:17:23 and in my house, they were still a fans in the
00:17:23 --> 00:17:26 70s They couldn't beat the Steelers and so, you
00:17:26 --> 00:17:29 know, I was a sore loser as a kid growing up
00:17:29 --> 00:17:35 and I'm dropping like a bad habit So then so
00:17:35 --> 00:17:38 then I went to play is like Bob Reese then I
00:17:38 --> 00:17:40 did like to charge it with Dan Foust in their
00:17:40 --> 00:17:43 choreo. Yeah, they were good. Oh, wow. Yeah,
00:17:43 --> 00:17:46 and then when I got a little older, you know,
00:17:46 --> 00:17:48 I stopped wanting to argue with grown men who
00:17:48 --> 00:17:51 thought they played or owned the team. Right.
00:17:52 --> 00:17:56 You know, so in all conversations with my team
00:17:56 --> 00:17:57 just wanting to shoot, boy, who your team? Who
00:17:57 --> 00:17:59 I want to shoot, boy, that's my team. That's
00:17:59 --> 00:18:01 your team, that's good. So I can't argue with
00:18:01 --> 00:18:04 someone who has no idea about football. I like
00:18:04 --> 00:18:07 that. I like that, I like that. All right, LeBron
00:18:07 --> 00:18:21 or Jordan, who you got? I have Jordan. Now listen,
00:18:21 --> 00:18:24 I will give LeBron, you know, for what he has
00:18:24 --> 00:18:28 done from the time he came in to what he's doing
00:18:28 --> 00:18:31 now and expectation they had on him coming in
00:18:31 --> 00:18:34 to what he's done now, I can say he's probably
00:18:34 --> 00:18:37 the greatest athlete in the game, right, for
00:18:37 --> 00:18:40 all that. But my go will always be Jordan. Yeah,
00:18:40 --> 00:18:44 thanks. Just overall, statistically, he came,
00:18:44 --> 00:18:47 I mean, just what Jordan did, bro, he'll never
00:18:47 --> 00:18:50 have a flu game. You know what I'm saying? You
00:18:50 --> 00:18:53 can't replicate that. He was special. Jordan
00:18:53 --> 00:18:55 was special. He was special, man. All right,
00:18:55 --> 00:18:57 travel through your eyes. Where did you grow
00:18:57 --> 00:19:04 up and where are you now? I grew up in East Starnes,
00:19:04 --> 00:19:07 New Jersey. Heaven on earth, you know during
00:19:07 --> 00:19:11 time I grew up. That's what it was to me, right?
00:19:11 --> 00:19:15 Life was very simple. It was a village community.
00:19:16 --> 00:19:19 You know, small, a little small, a little three
00:19:19 --> 00:19:22 point, what, 3 .8, 3 point something square.
00:19:22 --> 00:19:29 Wow. Yeah, 99 % black community. Wow. So it was
00:19:29 --> 00:19:35 just one of those things. Now I reside in Bethlehem.
00:19:36 --> 00:19:38 Township, Pennsylvania. Been here since October.
00:19:38 --> 00:19:40 Oh, you're in Pennsylvania now, huh? Bethlehem
00:19:40 --> 00:19:45 Township. Yeah, been out here since October 03.
00:19:45 --> 00:19:49 Okay, all right. So this is our, we talked about
00:19:49 --> 00:19:53 this. I want you to share to the listeners. This
00:19:53 --> 00:19:56 is called our Coming Out of the Tunnel segment.
00:19:57 --> 00:20:00 Can you tell us about your Coming Out of the
00:20:00 --> 00:20:03 Tunnel moment for the championship game? of the
00:20:03 --> 00:20:05 Essex County Finals against Chabas High School?
00:20:08 --> 00:20:14 You take me back, you take me back. I think that
00:20:14 --> 00:20:19 was my senior year, that was definitely, we were
00:20:19 --> 00:20:21 the giant slayers. We ain't had nobody on our
00:20:21 --> 00:20:25 team over six feet. We had about a six, seven,
00:20:25 --> 00:20:29 nine rotation. I said, nobody over six feet move
00:20:29 --> 00:20:31 us to five, five something. They had a couple
00:20:31 --> 00:20:35 of six -niners. Wow. Yeah. And Anthony Avent,
00:20:35 --> 00:20:38 out of Shabazz was like six, nine. A couple of
00:20:38 --> 00:20:40 the big guys, I mean, they from like six, nine,
00:20:40 --> 00:20:44 six, five, six, three. They had two guards, five,
00:20:44 --> 00:20:47 nine, and five, whatever. And we definitely were
00:20:47 --> 00:20:53 the underdogs going in. And it was a jam -packed
00:20:53 --> 00:20:55 house down at Esch County College in Newark,
00:20:56 --> 00:21:00 which is... Chabazz's, you know, area. And we
00:21:00 --> 00:21:03 ran him out to gym, you know, 94 feet of heat,
00:21:04 --> 00:21:07 baby. He put pressure on you, up and down the
00:21:07 --> 00:21:10 core, and yeah, yeah, we was able to come away
00:21:10 --> 00:21:12 with it. Who did you see coming out the locker
00:21:12 --> 00:21:17 room? Tell us. Oh, well, you know, going in,
00:21:17 --> 00:21:19 you know, going in. So before we play, you know,
00:21:19 --> 00:21:22 the girls play, so there's people there prior
00:21:22 --> 00:21:24 to, you know, waiting and watching the girls
00:21:24 --> 00:21:28 play. So when we walk in, you know, those guys
00:21:28 --> 00:21:30 in the street that's gambling and everything
00:21:30 --> 00:21:32 from North, they standing outside, you know,
00:21:32 --> 00:21:35 by the concession. So we walk in and they just
00:21:35 --> 00:21:37 talking trash. They just talking trash. All these
00:21:37 --> 00:21:40 little guys about to blow them out of here, bud.
00:21:40 --> 00:21:43 And so the guys from my neighborhood from Eastarn
00:21:43 --> 00:21:46 see us coming in, they cheering us on. And, you
00:21:46 --> 00:21:48 know, that was probably the only time in my life
00:21:48 --> 00:21:52 I know it was a lot of money. They're on a high
00:21:52 --> 00:21:55 school gang, right? These street guys doing what
00:21:55 --> 00:21:58 they're doing and talking trash to one another
00:21:58 --> 00:22:02 and it was crazy. And then at halftime, that
00:22:02 --> 00:22:06 whole sound of nook was quiet. We were in the
00:22:06 --> 00:22:10 whole gang. It was great. So tell us about your
00:22:10 --> 00:22:16 current situation with your kidney. Woo, it's
00:22:16 --> 00:22:21 been a journey. When I kind of found out my kidney
00:22:21 --> 00:22:25 was failing, I pretty much, I didn't share it
00:22:25 --> 00:22:26 with anybody. I didn't share it with my family.
00:22:27 --> 00:22:30 I didn't share it with my friends. I had one
00:22:30 --> 00:22:34 friend who, you know, he was about 20 years ago,
00:22:35 --> 00:22:37 he had a kidney transplant. He was a high school
00:22:37 --> 00:22:39 friend of mine. He was the only person I was
00:22:39 --> 00:22:42 talking to because he's been through it. Yeah,
00:22:42 --> 00:22:45 and so as my numbers were declining, you know,
00:22:45 --> 00:22:47 you know, you know, I'm hoping for a miracle
00:22:47 --> 00:22:50 I'm hoping things to get better and and then
00:22:50 --> 00:22:54 one day in March it just I'd had some blow work
00:22:54 --> 00:22:57 done and my numbers are really low and I can
00:22:57 --> 00:23:01 not panic, you know, I panic I just knew I Was
00:23:01 --> 00:23:05 gonna have to get on dialysis. I Really didn't
00:23:05 --> 00:23:08 want that to happen So my doctor didn't call
00:23:08 --> 00:23:10 me, so I called my doctor, like, why y 'all didn't
00:23:10 --> 00:23:12 call me yet? My test results, ain't nobody said
00:23:12 --> 00:23:16 nothing. So I called them and my nephrologist
00:23:16 --> 00:23:19 was all calm. I was like, dude, you too calm.
00:23:19 --> 00:23:22 Like, I should be strapped up to a machine, you
00:23:22 --> 00:23:24 know, going through, you know, what I need to
00:23:24 --> 00:23:27 be going through. Because I know other people
00:23:27 --> 00:23:29 that's, you know, on dialysis or been on dialysis
00:23:29 --> 00:23:33 and going through the kidney process. And so.
00:23:35 --> 00:23:38 I think after I spoke to my doctor, I called
00:23:38 --> 00:23:40 my friend back and I told him I was going on
00:23:40 --> 00:23:42 and he was like, you know, you need to share,
00:23:42 --> 00:23:44 you know, you need to share with your wife, your
00:23:44 --> 00:23:47 brothers, your sisters. And I was like, man,
00:23:48 --> 00:23:49 you know, I felt as though I was going to be
00:23:49 --> 00:23:56 a burden on people. So I tried to call everybody
00:23:56 --> 00:23:58 for some strange reason, nobody picked up the
00:23:58 --> 00:24:01 phone. So then I just text everybody, the group
00:24:01 --> 00:24:07 text and that was in March. Since then, the support's
00:24:07 --> 00:24:12 been there. I met with my transplant team, and
00:24:12 --> 00:24:14 right now we're in the process of trying to get
00:24:14 --> 00:24:17 a living donor. I'm out on dialysis, and I do
00:24:17 --> 00:24:21 my month -to -month blood work to make sure I
00:24:21 --> 00:24:25 do everything to stay off of dialysis. So that's
00:24:25 --> 00:24:28 been going good, so hopefully, you know. I get
00:24:28 --> 00:24:31 a living donor before I have to even start dialysis.
00:24:32 --> 00:24:34 And so that's what we had at this point. Okay.
00:24:34 --> 00:24:37 Cause that was our next question. You know, have
00:24:37 --> 00:24:40 you identified a donor? So you haven't identified
00:24:40 --> 00:24:43 a donor yet? No, no. And so, you know, there
00:24:43 --> 00:24:45 are people, you know, there's been some family
00:24:45 --> 00:24:52 members and some friends who, who have my blood
00:24:52 --> 00:24:56 type, you know, I'm a typo. You're a typo? Yeah.
00:24:58 --> 00:25:02 You have to be typo to be a match for me. Okay
00:25:02 --> 00:25:07 and so There people went through the process
00:25:07 --> 00:25:10 whatever reason they denied them and they were
00:25:10 --> 00:25:14 my blood type And so then there's some people
00:25:14 --> 00:25:16 who still want through the process something
00:25:16 --> 00:25:20 in the beginning and some towards the end And
00:25:20 --> 00:25:23 then I have a cousin who was willing she's not
00:25:23 --> 00:25:26 my blood type, but she's willing to do a swap
00:25:26 --> 00:25:29 kind of scenario where someone else might need
00:25:29 --> 00:25:32 her. She might be somebody else's blood type
00:25:32 --> 00:25:37 who might can take her kidney, right? But it
00:25:37 --> 00:25:40 might be somebody from this side who has my blood
00:25:40 --> 00:25:43 type, but not, they can't use that kidney, but
00:25:43 --> 00:25:46 I can use it, so it's kind of like a swap. So,
00:25:47 --> 00:25:52 I wanna, y 'all mind, I wanna pray. Can we pray?
00:25:52 --> 00:25:53 I just wanna pray that we touch and agree with
00:25:53 --> 00:25:57 you. You know, the Bible says that, If any to
00:25:57 --> 00:25:59 touch and agree because we prayed like before
00:25:59 --> 00:26:02 we called you but I feel like I want to pray
00:26:02 --> 00:26:06 with you and Touch and agree with you and even
00:26:06 --> 00:26:10 encourage you, you know Just in the in the natural
00:26:10 --> 00:26:12 if you don't mind and in the spiritual. So father
00:26:12 --> 00:26:15 we thank you for Elvin we thank you for your
00:26:15 --> 00:26:19 son Elvin we lift them up to you right now father.
00:26:19 --> 00:26:22 We know that you have not given us the spirit
00:26:22 --> 00:26:27 of fear but a power love and a sound mind. Elevate
00:26:27 --> 00:26:30 that in him right now as he waits for the donor
00:26:30 --> 00:26:33 that you already know where they are. You know
00:26:33 --> 00:26:37 all things. You're omniscient. You're all -knowing.
00:26:37 --> 00:26:39 You're all -powerful. You're omnipotent. So we
00:26:39 --> 00:26:44 thank you that you are faithful. Your name is
00:26:44 --> 00:26:47 faithful. We thank you that. Elvin has peace,
00:26:48 --> 00:26:50 the peace that surpasses all understanding. Let
00:26:50 --> 00:26:52 it guard his heart and his mind by Christ Jesus.
00:26:52 --> 00:26:56 We thank you now for our living donor. We thank
00:26:56 --> 00:26:58 you that it's done in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
00:26:59 --> 00:27:02 Amen. Amen. Amen. Appreciate that. Yeah, man.
00:27:02 --> 00:27:07 Yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. So. animal planet.
00:27:08 --> 00:27:10 Yeah, if you could, if you could receive a healthy
00:27:10 --> 00:27:13 kidney today, but if we're coming, I just think
00:27:13 --> 00:27:14 we're going to kind of shift. I know that was
00:27:14 --> 00:27:18 serious, but we got kind of shifted. We're going
00:27:18 --> 00:27:22 to pivot. We're going to pivot. I just felt,
00:27:22 --> 00:27:25 I really felt led to pray. Just I wanted to touch
00:27:25 --> 00:27:29 and agree with you. Particularly, you know what
00:27:29 --> 00:27:32 I mean? Not just. Cover probably just particularly
00:27:32 --> 00:27:35 pray for you. So now we're gonna shift to something
00:27:35 --> 00:27:37 that's kind of funny Okay, so it's just kind
00:27:37 --> 00:27:41 of this warning you this coach got me doing If
00:27:41 --> 00:27:43 you can receive a healthy kidney today, but it
00:27:43 --> 00:27:46 would come from an animal which animal kidney
00:27:46 --> 00:27:57 would you choose? But I'm saying, I just had
00:27:57 --> 00:27:58 a feeling he was gonna pick - You didn't even
00:27:58 --> 00:28:00 know that? No, I didn't. Oh, wow. I just had
00:28:00 --> 00:28:02 a feeling he was gonna pick a Panther. You know
00:28:02 --> 00:28:04 what? I think I would've picked a Panther. I
00:28:04 --> 00:28:07 don't know why. I guess, so I gotta ask you this.
00:28:07 --> 00:28:09 I know it's your school mascot, but what about
00:28:09 --> 00:28:13 the Panther that's got you struck like that?
00:28:13 --> 00:28:15 Why would you pick the Panther other than the
00:28:15 --> 00:28:18 mascot? Or was that the main reason? Oh, that's
00:28:18 --> 00:28:20 the main reason. Okay, all right. I like that.
00:28:21 --> 00:28:23 I like that. A little Panther stands out, baby.
00:28:24 --> 00:28:27 I like that. It's just one of those, you know,
00:28:28 --> 00:28:30 you see it and you just gotta look at it. You
00:28:30 --> 00:28:33 gotta admire it. You really do. Yeah, yeah. That's
00:28:33 --> 00:28:37 fire. That's fire. All right. Does your kidney
00:28:37 --> 00:28:43 illness run in your family? You know what? No,
00:28:43 --> 00:28:47 I'm gonna say no, but you know, high blood pressure
00:28:47 --> 00:28:49 runs in my family. Which leads to kidney illness.
00:28:50 --> 00:28:53 Which leads to, yeah, so you know, you know.
00:28:54 --> 00:28:57 Me growing up, and I didn't pay attention to
00:28:57 --> 00:29:00 much to anything, I just did what I did. So I
00:29:00 --> 00:29:02 have siblings who paid attention to a lot of
00:29:02 --> 00:29:04 stuff, so I asked. And my grandmother was on
00:29:04 --> 00:29:06 dialysis, I had an uncle that was on dialysis.
00:29:07 --> 00:29:10 Had a cousin that was on dialysis, right, so.
00:29:10 --> 00:29:14 That's - From high blood pressure. Really, I
00:29:14 --> 00:29:20 don't know their cause. It could, who knows,
00:29:21 --> 00:29:26 right? That I was probably, I was probably five,
00:29:26 --> 00:29:30 six, seven when my grandmother was a dialysis.
00:29:31 --> 00:29:34 I didn't pay attention to her. I was probably
00:29:34 --> 00:29:36 a little older when my uncle didn't really know
00:29:36 --> 00:29:40 what was going on with him. And then my cousin,
00:29:40 --> 00:29:43 I knew she had kidney issues. So how has this
00:29:43 --> 00:29:46 affected your relationship with your spouse?
00:29:48 --> 00:29:55 Oh, but you know, let me see, how can I say this?
00:29:56 --> 00:30:01 It hasn't affected, when people hear that word,
00:30:02 --> 00:30:04 I think it's something negative. It's not necessarily
00:30:04 --> 00:30:07 something negative, I think it's more so being
00:30:07 --> 00:30:12 more aware. Like her, her awareness on how I
00:30:12 --> 00:30:15 move, you know, being a man. I won't say being
00:30:15 --> 00:30:19 a black man, but being a man, you know, we sometimes
00:30:19 --> 00:30:22 feel that we can do what we want and that we're
00:30:22 --> 00:30:23 gonna be alright as long as I'm doing what I'm
00:30:23 --> 00:30:28 doing right, so. But she is very conscious. She's
00:30:28 --> 00:30:31 shutting it down. Yeah, you know what I mean.
00:30:32 --> 00:30:37 You know where I'm going. Just being mindful
00:30:37 --> 00:30:41 of how I'm moving. Right. They're very conscious
00:30:41 --> 00:30:45 of. where we're at in the process, because you
00:30:45 --> 00:30:47 know, it's for her, it's her territory, right?
00:30:49 --> 00:30:54 And she is the one that's going to, if I gotta
00:30:54 --> 00:30:58 start dialysis or after I get the transplant,
00:30:58 --> 00:31:02 she's gonna be a primary caregiver, she'll be
00:31:02 --> 00:31:06 the one. That's probably making sure I'm taking
00:31:06 --> 00:31:10 my medication, making sure. I get my behind up
00:31:10 --> 00:31:14 and walk, exercise, and do something else. So
00:31:14 --> 00:31:18 at the end of the day, it's a worried piece of
00:31:18 --> 00:31:24 it because there's no guarantee it's gonna happen
00:31:24 --> 00:31:27 when she would like it to happen or when I would
00:31:27 --> 00:31:30 like it to happen. Don't know if it's just the
00:31:30 --> 00:31:33 unknown, right? And then like anything, any other
00:31:33 --> 00:31:38 type of procedure, things can go wrong. So it's
00:31:38 --> 00:31:42 just... So that's gotta be, that's gotta be kind
00:31:42 --> 00:31:44 of a mental strain, that's like a mental strain
00:31:44 --> 00:31:50 with this, yeah. So how do you stay mentally
00:31:50 --> 00:31:53 strong, like you say, and stay active? Well,
00:31:53 --> 00:31:56 that, but you know, I've been a guy, it's been
00:31:56 --> 00:32:00 cool, you know, what's gonna happen, right? Yeah,
00:32:00 --> 00:32:05 man. And so, you know, my job is just to be optimistic
00:32:05 --> 00:32:09 and be patient. Right, I like that. And so at
00:32:09 --> 00:32:12 the end of the day, I can only control what I
00:32:12 --> 00:32:17 can control. You know what I mean? Yeah. Do you
00:32:17 --> 00:32:21 do any exercise? I try to walk every day. I try
00:32:21 --> 00:32:25 to walk every day. Because I have a catheter
00:32:25 --> 00:32:28 inside my stomach that I chose. If I have to
00:32:28 --> 00:32:31 start dialysis, I'm going to do PD dialysis at
00:32:31 --> 00:32:35 home. So they sort of place the catheter inside
00:32:35 --> 00:32:39 of me. just to get the after start so it's already
00:32:39 --> 00:32:41 in place so it's not like an emergency situation
00:32:41 --> 00:32:44 and kind of prepped me for that so I can't do
00:32:44 --> 00:32:47 any core exercises so pretty much it is just
00:32:47 --> 00:32:50 a walk and I can't do anything strange. the area
00:32:50 --> 00:32:54 with the calf there right now. I could take you
00:32:54 --> 00:33:00 to the hoop real good now. Right now, yeah. Listen,
00:33:00 --> 00:33:06 I'll let you. So let me ask you this. What signs
00:33:06 --> 00:33:08 or symptoms should people be aware of or look
00:33:08 --> 00:33:11 for if their kidneys are failing? Well, you know,
00:33:12 --> 00:33:16 the obvious one is just the foamy urine. You're
00:33:16 --> 00:33:17 getting bowels, you go in the bathroom, you see
00:33:17 --> 00:33:22 the foamy urine. That's a sign. There's no real
00:33:22 --> 00:33:27 pain that I endured. Or you find yourself being
00:33:27 --> 00:33:30 lethargic. You find yourself being tired for
00:33:30 --> 00:33:35 no reason mid -day. So you're just tired. Those
00:33:35 --> 00:33:40 are the signs that I recognized in myself. Now
00:33:40 --> 00:33:42 other people, they might have had some back pain,
00:33:42 --> 00:33:45 or they might have, like they say a sign you
00:33:45 --> 00:33:49 can be itching a lot. I don't know those different
00:33:49 --> 00:33:57 signs, but those are my signs. And the fatigue.
00:34:01 --> 00:34:04 Because you know, you walk around, you go to
00:34:04 --> 00:34:08 work, you do what you do. As long as I can do
00:34:08 --> 00:34:11 those things as a man, I'm okay, I'm good. It
00:34:11 --> 00:34:13 wouldn't stop me from going to work, it wouldn't
00:34:13 --> 00:34:17 stop me from. you know, doing what I do. Okay.
00:34:18 --> 00:34:21 Two thumbs up. So what's your favorite movie?
00:34:22 --> 00:34:27 You got a favorite movie? Man, I'm old school,
00:34:28 --> 00:34:30 man. You know, I just have to go back to all
00:34:30 --> 00:34:33 my favorite movies, man. You know, I love, I
00:34:33 --> 00:34:38 love me a coolie high. Okay. Old school, right.
00:34:39 --> 00:34:41 Cornbread early me. What you know about cornbread
00:34:41 --> 00:34:44 early me? I was about to say cornbread or whatever.
00:34:45 --> 00:34:52 They kill cornbread! They kill cornbread! It
00:34:52 --> 00:34:57 can be some classics, man. You can. So when you
00:34:57 --> 00:34:59 get your transplant, when you get it, not if,
00:34:59 --> 00:35:02 when you get your transplant, right? So if your
00:35:02 --> 00:35:05 surgeon had to listen to some of your music,
00:35:05 --> 00:35:08 what song or what artist would you tell him to
00:35:08 --> 00:35:10 play while he's doing your transplant? What song
00:35:10 --> 00:35:13 you want him to listen to? I don't know what
00:35:13 --> 00:35:16 song, but I could never go wrong, Earth, Wind
00:35:16 --> 00:35:20 & Fire, baby. I could never go wrong. Wow. You
00:35:20 --> 00:35:23 know what out there would be a good one? September.
00:35:28 --> 00:35:31 Yeah, Reasons. Reasons would be fire. Reasons
00:35:31 --> 00:35:39 would be fire. What you say? That would be the
00:35:39 --> 00:35:42 perfect one. Right. That would be fine. Reasons.
00:35:43 --> 00:35:46 Oh, man. Come on, coach. All right. All right.
00:35:46 --> 00:35:49 This is Would You Rather. All right. Would you
00:35:49 --> 00:35:54 rather have a kidney from Iron Man or from Wonder
00:35:54 --> 00:35:59 Woman? Iron Man or Wonder Woman? Absolutely.
00:35:59 --> 00:36:02 Yeah. If you had to have a kidney, would you
00:36:02 --> 00:36:04 rather have it from Iron Man or Wonder Woman?
00:36:05 --> 00:36:11 You know who I'm picking? I'm picking, what?
00:36:12 --> 00:36:15 Listen, I'm at a, what, what, what, I'm, well,
00:36:16 --> 00:36:20 it seems as though. Ironman kidney might be indestructible.
00:36:20 --> 00:36:22 Come on now. So I'm gonna go Ironman. I'm gonna
00:36:22 --> 00:36:27 go Ironman. He gonna get you a kidney that run
00:36:27 --> 00:36:30 off of a light though. He'll put a piece of light
00:36:30 --> 00:36:33 on you and your kidney will run for 15 years.
00:36:33 --> 00:36:35 Grab some alcohol in your system. But still,
00:36:35 --> 00:36:39 he got a light that'll fix all that. Yeah, he
00:36:39 --> 00:36:46 just got to lubricate him. So we got a tongue
00:36:46 --> 00:36:48 twister, right? We always put this tongue twister
00:36:48 --> 00:36:51 on people and they have yet to get it, so I'm
00:36:51 --> 00:36:53 gonna say it and then I want you to try it, okay?
00:36:55 --> 00:36:58 Tongue twister. I want you to say this. I'm gonna
00:36:58 --> 00:37:01 say it and then you say it. Wait till I get done.
00:37:01 --> 00:37:05 One smart fellow felt smart, two smart fellows
00:37:05 --> 00:37:08 felt smart, three smart fellows felt smart, four
00:37:08 --> 00:37:10 smart fellows felt smart, and they all felt smart
00:37:10 --> 00:37:18 together. Yes, one smart fellow felt smart. Yeah,
00:37:18 --> 00:37:34 I said smart. He said smart. You lost me on the
00:37:34 --> 00:37:40 first one. Alright. Okay, never have I ever.
00:37:41 --> 00:37:44 Listen, let me tell you something. You know,
00:37:45 --> 00:37:47 playing sports all my life, right? And sometimes
00:37:47 --> 00:37:51 I pay attention when you actually watch some
00:37:51 --> 00:37:54 of these guys sitting in the office of play and
00:37:54 --> 00:37:57 these quarterback guys saying all this nonsense
00:37:57 --> 00:37:59 that's on a toss. You don't listen to them yet.
00:38:00 --> 00:38:03 Zip right X, Y, thunder, clap. Yeah, yeah, I'll
00:38:03 --> 00:38:06 be a wide receiver. I didn't leave a one girl.
00:38:06 --> 00:38:10 That's all I'm doing. That's it. So all that
00:38:10 --> 00:38:12 other stuff, yeah, I got you. All right. All
00:38:12 --> 00:38:16 right, so this is called Never Have I Ever. So
00:38:16 --> 00:38:19 we'll say something, and if your answer is yes,
00:38:19 --> 00:38:22 you say, stop eating my sesame cake. And then
00:38:22 --> 00:38:25 if it's no, it's Heavens to Mercatroyd. Like
00:38:25 --> 00:38:29 from the cartoon, Heavens to Mercatroyd. Stop
00:38:29 --> 00:38:33 eating my cake. Stop eating my sesame cake. For
00:38:33 --> 00:38:39 yes, and Heavens to Murgatroy for no. Heavens
00:38:39 --> 00:38:42 to Murgatroy, aye. All right. Never have I ever
00:38:42 --> 00:38:47 lied to a coach about why I was late. Stop eating
00:38:47 --> 00:38:52 my sesame cake. Oh yeah, stop eating my sesame
00:38:52 --> 00:38:56 cake. All right, never have I ever wanted to
00:38:56 --> 00:38:59 quit, but I didn't tell anybody. Stop eating
00:38:59 --> 00:39:10 my sesame cake. Stop eating my sesame cake. I
00:39:10 --> 00:39:16 never have ever broken curfew. Yeah, I've broken
00:39:16 --> 00:39:25 curfew. Stop eating my sesame cake. Stop eating
00:39:25 --> 00:39:27 my sesame cake, Evan. You know you done broke
00:39:27 --> 00:39:33 curfew. You know you done broke curfew. If you
00:39:33 --> 00:39:36 played basketball, you broke curfew. Nah, his
00:39:36 --> 00:39:39 roommate broke curfew, I know. My roommate broke
00:39:39 --> 00:39:45 curfew. Okay, alright. Heavens and Mercatroy.
00:39:45 --> 00:39:48 Okay, now the last one. Never have I ever borrowed
00:39:48 --> 00:39:51 something from a teammate and never returned
00:39:51 --> 00:40:00 it. Heavens and Mercatroy. Alright, tell us what
00:40:00 --> 00:40:03 our listeners can do. What can someone do for
00:40:03 --> 00:40:05 you and others that are waiting on kidney transplants?
00:40:05 --> 00:40:12 How can we help? Oh, geez. That's a loaded question.
00:40:13 --> 00:40:19 Play? Yes. You know, just share the word. You
00:40:19 --> 00:40:21 know, spread the word. You never know who might
00:40:21 --> 00:40:26 be willing to help. We're going to put your information
00:40:26 --> 00:40:29 on our website as well. Yes. That's fine. You
00:40:29 --> 00:40:32 know, spread the word. And at the end of the
00:40:32 --> 00:40:35 day, I think, you know, a lot of us, you know,
00:40:35 --> 00:40:37 well, most of us, all of us, probably should
00:40:37 --> 00:40:40 just try to do a better job of taking care of
00:40:40 --> 00:40:44 ourselves, you know. Because, you know, your
00:40:44 --> 00:40:47 heart might be in a place to want the help, but
00:40:47 --> 00:40:50 you can't physically because you weren't taking
00:40:50 --> 00:40:54 care of yourself. You know, like I said, there
00:40:54 --> 00:40:58 have been people who, you know... wanted to help,
00:40:58 --> 00:41:03 but because of their conditions, whether it be
00:41:03 --> 00:41:06 high blood pressure, diabetic, whatever the case
00:41:06 --> 00:41:12 may be, they can't. So a lot of times, and I
00:41:12 --> 00:41:17 kind of blame myself at one point that, and that'll
00:41:17 --> 00:41:21 be, he can vouch and tell you, I love to compete,
00:41:21 --> 00:41:23 but I ain't right working out. I'd be the last
00:41:23 --> 00:41:27 one in the weight room, first one out. And so
00:41:27 --> 00:41:30 you know, I just wanted to play right and so
00:41:30 --> 00:41:33 when you know, I stopped competing, you know
00:41:33 --> 00:41:35 We're kind of you know true to live a sedentary
00:41:35 --> 00:41:39 lifestyle. You know, I'm saying yeah And so,
00:41:39 --> 00:41:41 you know, I'm sitting around doing what I want
00:41:41 --> 00:41:44 to do, but I'm not taking care of my body like
00:41:44 --> 00:41:47 yeah, you know I mean you what I want to be chilling
00:41:47 --> 00:41:52 doing what I want to do I ain't the slob, but
00:41:52 --> 00:41:54 I got bigger than what I probably should and
00:41:54 --> 00:41:58 it was very unhelpful. And so again, just take
00:41:58 --> 00:42:01 care of yourselves. And so if you do get to the
00:42:01 --> 00:42:05 point and you want to, you're in a space where
00:42:05 --> 00:42:09 you can help someone. So pray, spread the word,
00:42:10 --> 00:42:13 and do your own research, right? Because it's
00:42:13 --> 00:42:18 like anything. Like if, I'm gonna say a symbol
00:42:18 --> 00:42:21 of this, If you never owned a pair of Nikes,
00:42:21 --> 00:42:25 right? And when you buy your first pair of Nikes,
00:42:25 --> 00:42:28 you notice everybody else with Nikes. You start
00:42:28 --> 00:42:34 seeing more Nikes, right? So, yeah, I knew of
00:42:34 --> 00:42:36 kidney issues and things of that nature, but
00:42:36 --> 00:42:38 I noticed it more and more because now I'm going
00:42:38 --> 00:42:42 through it, right? So, sometimes we don't pay
00:42:42 --> 00:42:45 attention to things because we're not going through
00:42:45 --> 00:42:47 it, but when you go through it, now you notice
00:42:47 --> 00:42:50 it. more prevalent, it means something to you.
00:42:52 --> 00:42:54 So that's why it's important that we all take
00:42:54 --> 00:42:56 care of ourselves, because you never know when
00:42:56 --> 00:43:00 you might walk into a situation, or a loved one
00:43:00 --> 00:43:05 might be in a situation that you can help, but
00:43:05 --> 00:43:09 you can if you're not doing what you need to
00:43:09 --> 00:43:12 do for yourself. That's right. I was gonna ask
00:43:12 --> 00:43:13 you, because we're gonna end the call now, we
00:43:13 --> 00:43:16 appreciate you having your own, but I was gonna
00:43:16 --> 00:43:19 ask you, for everything you just said, but you
00:43:19 --> 00:43:22 organically gave that up, like everything that
00:43:22 --> 00:43:24 people need to know. You know, you used to ask
00:43:24 --> 00:43:26 a guess. Anything you want the world to know,
00:43:26 --> 00:43:29 you just said that while I was asking. And I
00:43:29 --> 00:43:32 like it when it happens like that. Man, I got
00:43:32 --> 00:43:34 a tremendous amount of respect for you. I salute
00:43:34 --> 00:43:37 you. I salute your courage, man. We salute your
00:43:37 --> 00:43:39 courage. We're praying for you. Anybody else
00:43:39 --> 00:43:42 that's, you know, that's in your situation, because
00:43:42 --> 00:43:46 it could be anybody. So we're praying. I appreciate
00:43:46 --> 00:43:48 you, I'm sure Coach did feel the same way. Yes
00:43:48 --> 00:43:50 sir, yes sir. We appreciate you, man. We gotta
00:43:50 --> 00:43:54 shout you out. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Evan

00:45:18 --> 00:45:20 make sure they check your kidneys. Right, and

00:45:22 --> 00:45:24 with some foam. Foam in your urine. Foam in your
00:45:24 --> 00:45:27 urine. Now, you're gonna have bubbles. Your urine
00:45:27 --> 00:45:30 bubbles. Well, not that like, you'll know it's
00:45:30 --> 00:45:33 foam in your urine. Foam and bubbles. Yeah, yeah.
00:45:33 --> 00:45:35 Yeah, you'll know. Yeah. Man, ain't that something?
